Wadkin Limited is a former but well-known manufacturer of window and door construction machinery and standard machinery in the UK whose production has continued since 2011 as a brand of A L Dalton Ltd with the same logo.
History
2010 | Liquidation of Wadkin Ltd; The machine manufacturer and dealer 'A L Dalton Ltd' takes over the rights to WADKIN and continues machine production under same name from the Nottingham site. |
2005 | Successor company has moved to new building. They still have 115 employees, 27 of them experienced service fitters. Among other things, they sell whirling machines from Taiwan with the name ROBINSON. Wadkin now makes very few automatic sweepers - but many bandsaws and profile knife sharpening machines - about 20 machines a month. However, the main work, apart from field service, is the reconditioning of old automatic sweepers. These are reconditioned to a good quality and sold at a high price. |
1998 | Wadkin files bankruptcy -> successor company Wadkin Ultra Care. |
1994 | Wadkin ends the production of CNC machines. Some former employees go to the company RYE. RYE is at that time a manufacturer of CNC machines and represents the Italian machine builder ALBERTI. |
1990 | Corporation with Gubisch - from this time on selling the GA 220 moulders about five years. After that the partnership broke up. |
1975 | Company had 600 employees. |
1970 - 1980 | Absolute boom time. Main products were moulders (planers and moulders), double end tenoners, mortisers, angle plants, CNC-shapers as well as standard machines. The mortiser DMW ('Hammerschlag') was very popular and is still in demand very much. Wadkin had 3 locations:
- Leicester - moulders, double end tenoners, angle plants, CNC-shaper
- Colne Yorkshire - standard machines, some CNC machining centers
- Durham - mortising machines, spindle moulders
