Upper pressure
You see the entry in
Consisting of the upper pressure bar (aluminum profile or steel bar) and idler rollers or conveyor belts, which press from the top on workpiece to be processed and thus ensure a safe feed motion through the machine. Upper pressure with rollersRollers or cylinders are used for edgebanders, designed for the use in crafts companies or for small series productions. They are usually made of rubber and have a smooth or fluted surface. For extremely sensitive workpiece surfaces polyurethane (PU) is used as material for the rollers (Brandt-PU-acting roles). Top pressure beltsThe system with the highest quality and highest safety is the belt top pressure. This creates a flat contact pressure on the workpiece surface and thus prevents a relative movement, which can lead to markings or damage of sensitive surfaces. A fan belt, several single fan belts and V-belts are used. These usually have no own drive. The pressure elements press the belt to the workpiece and the feed chain so hard that it moves along with the forward movement of the chain. Chain upper pressureOccasionally, there are also edgebanding machines which can both move the workpiece from below with a feed chain and hold the workpiece using a chain and support the feed with its own drive. Example
AdjustmentThe upper pressure beam is usually fixed to two supports and can be adjusted in height via threaded rods, according to the workpiece thickness. The drive for the height adjustment is usually manual, using a crank or a ratchet with a mechanical digital counter, in small machines. In larger machines, the adjustment is done using electric motor and program control. ApplicationUpper pressure beams in this form are used in the following machine types:
